Soybean growers & retailers are well acquainted with choosing a rhizobial inoculant for their crop every season, and due to the ever expanding amount of options on the market, this choice never seems to get easier. One choice stands above the rest though: XiteBio® SoyRhizo®. Why is XiteBio® SoyRhizo® such an easy choice when it comes to soybean inoculants and what does it do different from the rest of them? In this week’s edition of growing possibilities, we will be highlighting the distinctive plant performance advantages offered by XiteBio® SoyRhizo®.
XiteBio® SoyRhizo® is a premium liquid soybean inoculant that delivers several advantages over most of the competitors, both on-seed and in-furrow. The easy-to-use, all-in-one formulation means no mixing of extenders/additives or extra steps. The bulkiness and cumbersome handling associated with peat and granular inoculants reduces efficiency and causes time to be wasted on extra trips to & from your storage area. Granular inoculants also require large storage spaces and require constant supervision to prevent bridging & plugging of equipment. XiteBio® SoyRhizo® eliminates these issues and increases your efficiency. The unique liquid formula is compatible with most chemical seed treatments & fertilizers, and will reduce sticking & bridging of seeds. If applying as a seed treatment, XiteBio® SoyRhizo® lasts up to 90 days on-seed, giving you plenty of time to plant after inoculant application. XiteBio® SoyRhizo® also has a two-year shelf life, meaning if you don’t use it this season, it can still be used next season.
Efficient and consistent performance is essential when choosing an inoculant for your crop, and that’s where XiteBio® SoyRhizo® stands above other commercial inoculant formulations on the market, be it peat-based or granular. XiteBio® SoyRhizo® encourages greater root nodulation and nitrogen (N) fixation, with agronomic performance equal or better than granular products. The secret behind this performance advantage is in the XiteBio’s unique proprietary formulation called AGPT® (Advanced Growth Promoting Technology). AGPT® is specially formulated with the selected rhizobium species to ensure the strongest nodulation and greatest N-fixation for your legume crops like pulses or soybeans. AGPT® inoculants also introduce the optimum number of rhizobia into your soil. As previously discussed on the Growing Possibilities blog, more is not always better when it comes to the number of bacteria present in your inoculant. In fact, too many bacteria can lead to overcrowding and nutrient competition. XiteBio® SoyRhizo® stands apart from other inoculants because it introduces the optimal number of N-fixing rhizobium into your soil, triggering increased soil microbial activity and N-fixation.
The other big issue other inoculants have is competition between their introduced bacteria and the native soil bacteria. Generally, rhizobia introduced to the soil by other inoculants try to out-compete the native micro-flora. Other inoculants will try to introduce stronger or more active rhizobia, resulting in competition between the introduced inoculant rhizobia and the native bacteria for resources such as nutrients & space on your seed. Competition like this often reduces the efficacy of your inoculant; if your bacteria are competing for resources, they are not properly nodulating your crop. The bacteria in XiteBio® SoyRhizo® are specially bred to work in synergy with the native soil bacteria, leading to more consistent inoculant performance and greater N-fixation, resulting in better yields.
