We recently crossed a major milestone here at XiteBio Technologies Inc. – Ten years as a company. What began as a small, ag-biotech company has grown into a substantial presence in the crop input market in Canada and the USA, with our eco-friendly products and biological expertise setting us apart in the world of biologicals and inoculants. We are proud to have been serving the inoculant and biological market for over a decade now and would like to take the time to look back on our journey as a company in this week’s edition of Growing Possibilities.
XiteBio® Technologies began in 2010, starting with a goal of providing new, innovative ag-biological technologies that would improve yields and bottom lines while reducing input costs and improving agricultural sustainability/environmental responsibility. “Research Driven, Performance Proven” was the mantra and that mantra is the backbone of XiteBio.
Our first product was XiteBio® SoyRhizo® was registered in 2011 in US and then came along XiteBio® PeasRhizo (new name XiteBio® PulseRhizo®) and both of them went onto the U.S. market initially. These two rhizobial inoculants represented a change in how farmers inoculate their crops, with the agronomic performance of our eco-friendly, easy to handle liquid inoculants showing farmers our potential. In 2012, after the launch of our first two inoculants, XiteBio Technologies Inc. received the Frost & Sullivan Product Distinction Award; recognition we were honored to receive. In 2013, both products were registered for use in Canada by CFIA. In 2015, XiteBio® Yield+ product was registered in the US and in 2017, XiteBio also introduced our Yield+ line of PGPR (plant growth promoting rhizobacteria) based biologicals in Canada after receiving the registration through CFIA. XiteBio® Yield+ represented a new step forward in our innovation, harnessing plant health promoting internationally patented bacteria that naturally occur in soil to enhance the uptake of soil phosphorus that otherwise is fixed in the soil. A great step forward in the journey toward sustainable agriculture for almost all major row crops in North America.
As our business grew, so did our dedicated team, which has expanded across Canada and the Northern USA. Our sales team has continued to forge relationships with growers across both countries and provide all the support our customers need. Over the years, our focus has always been building relationships before anything else. Our Innovation, Research and Development (IRD) team has continued to develop alongside our CEO Dr. Manas Banerjee (also the head of IRD). Our talented researchers are constantly looking for new ways to harness natural microbial life for unique biotechnologies, and innovative improvements to enhance our existing ones. Thriving Through Innovation was the only way of surviving and XiteBio just did that and still continuing.

In 2017 the construction of XiteBio’s own QA/QC Centre took place, allowing our team to control all aspects of quality assurance/quality control and almost all aspects of our production in-house. This has permitted our team to inspect all of our products before they are shipped, and has enabled us to ensure the quality and reliability that our customers expect from our premium inoculants and biologicals. 2017 also saw Dr. Banerjee received a nomination for the Ernest C. Manning Innovation Award.
Over the course of a decade we have built relationships all over North America, and built a reputation for customer service, agronomic performance, quality products and biological expertise. We hope to continue innovating the world of ag-biologicals for years to come, so here’s to another decade of XiteBio!
